The world is split between the Faerie Realms and the Mortal Lands. A war fought centuries ago ended in the creation of a magical wall dividing humans from faeries. Cracks in the wall have let Faeries enter the human world. Feyre (the MC) becomes entangled with Tamlin, a High Fae, after she committed the crime of murdering a faerie. A life for a life—Feyre crosses the wall to pay for her crime.
