Title of Book:  Earth’s End (Air Awakens Series Book 3)

Author: Elise Kova

Main Character(s): Vhalla Yarl and Prince Aldrik

First Published: October 2016

Pages: 352

First Sentence: “Vhalla was falling. The wind roared past her ears as she dove headfirst into the greatest ravine in the world.”

Last Sentence: “And by the time the crown prince learned of the Windwalker’s whirlwind departure, Vhalla Yarl was too far to hear his screams of anguish.””

Fate can be either a friend or foe ……sometimes both.

Story Line Overview:

Vhalla Yarl is both strong and courageous. She pushes forward and fights fate at every turn. The emperor would use her as a tool to win his war and become all powerful. But power comes with a price.

Prince Aldrik must find a way to protect the one he loves while upholding his title as Crown Prince. Although outwardly hateful, both Aldrik and his brother, Baldair, work together to protect the Windwalker against the Knights of Jadar. The Knights would use Vhalla as their tool against the evil emperor.

Vhalla, both cunning and intuitive, figures out the emperor’s plan and takes matters into her own hands. She faces a tough choice with only one answer. But can she give up the one thing she holds most dear. Can Aldrik?

My review:

Absolutely thrilling! Vhalla holds nothing back in this adventure packed novel. She embraces the woman, the Windwalker, she has become and learns to stand bravely on her own two feet. Vhalla pushes the limits and fights for what she loves.

Overall, I would give this novel 5 out of 5 stars. I can’t wait to find out if Vhalla will make Aldrik see the error of his ways or if she will be the one to bring peace to the land.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Lux Series, and The Sanctorian Series.

Title of Book:  Fire Falling (Air Awakens Series Book 2)

Author: Elise Kova

Main Character(s): Vhalla Yarl and Prince Aldrik

First Published: October 2016

Pages: 382

First Sentence: “The world was an inferno. Thick smoke. Ash. Blistering heat.”

Last Sentence: “The last thing Vhalla saw was the moment when Aldrik’s body met the ground, blood pooling instantly about his broken and lifeless form, before everything went black.”

Sometimes sons don’t turn out like their fathers……

Story Line Overview:

Vhalla Yarl is a commoner with a passion for knowledge and books. She is learning about her new skills as the Wind Walker and what it means to serve the empire.

Literally a slave, but thankful to be alive, Vhalla swears to herself to become a weapon unlike any the empire had ever seen before.

Little did she know that the empire would stand in the of her uniting with the one she loves, the dark Prince, Aldrik. The emperor sees her as nothing more than a tool, a sword for the empire to wield. But for the dark prince, Vhalla means much more than that.

Unexpected circumstances leads Vhalla to learn more about Aldrik than any other. Their bond ties them together in ways that only time and exploration can tell. The adventure continues as Vhalla march with the troops toward the front line. They will fight for their lives or lose themselves to the empire.

My review:

This novel didn’t flow as well as the first one. I didn’t like how the chemistry between Aldrik had to be secret. I mean, I get why they couldn’t tell others, but I didn’t like that they were so secretive. Also, Aldrik shows a side of himself that no one has ever seen before. His past lay open and bare for Vhalla to see and it unsettles him.

Overall, I would give this novel 4 out of 5 stars. I still want to know what is going to happen to the characters so I am going to push forward and read Earth’s End, but I hope the story line will get better—more involved.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Lux Series, and The Sanctorian Series.

Title of Book:  Wrath of the Gods (The Titan’s Saga Book 2)

Author: Leia Stone & Jaymin Eve

Main Character(s): Maisey Parker and Cronua

First Published: March 220

Pages: 187

First Sentence: “I stared at teh picture of Cronus and me on my Insta wall, the one shred of proof that he as real—that everything we’d gone through was real.”

Last Sentence: “But first we were hunting my Titan down and getting him back. Erynomus be damned.””

To love is to lose……

Story Line Overview:

Maisey Parker and Cronus come to a truce after a temporary separation. Cronus needs Maisey if he is going to save the world. They will have to go through unimaginable trials, fight against the old prejudices, and figure out where they stand with each other.

Maisey is bound and determined to stay by Cronus’s side, no matter if it costs her life or not. She will do what ever it takes to keep her titan safe. The same can be said of Cronus. He fights to keep Maisey safe even from herself.

Taking the sins into himself is the only way to contain them, but he can’t do it alone. Cronus soon realizes that fate can’t be stopped and a person’s destiny cannot be changed no matter how much power a person posses.

My review:

This tale of love and heartache weaves to and fro, turning unexpectedly at points and left me wanting more. I love how the relationship between Cronus and Maisey develops. They lean and grow together.

The one thing I do not like about this particular saga is it is a live or die type deal. There is no middle ground. Either they are happy and the world will end, or they are miserable and doomed to be separated but the world will survive. Sacrifice is the greatest love.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves Cursed by the Gods Series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Lux Series.

Book Review: Releasing the Gods (The Titan’s Saga Book 1) by Leia Stone and Jaymin Eve

Title of Book:  Releasing the Gods (The Titan’s Saga Book 1)

Author: Leia Stone & Jaymin Eve

Main Character(s): Maisey Parker and Cronua

First Published: November 2019

Pages: 221

First Sentence: “Sometimes your life can change in a single moment. Or for me..with a single dare.”

Last Sentence: “The tornado above me turned into the shape of a spear and slammed right into my chest. I blacked out again, welcoming the darkness.”

When titans and gods reunite…..the world will never be the same.

Story Line Overview:

Maisey Parker is a typical girl struggling to make it through life. She is a spark in the darkness, the fun of the party. At least, she was before she released Cronus, the oldest titan, from his prison.

Cronus was locked away by Zeus and the other Gods long ago. All it took was one drop of blood from Maisey Parker to release him from his realm of imprisonment. Now, both Maisey and Cronus’s lives are tied together forcing them to remain close…..like within 10 feet close or they would both feel unimaginable pain.

Revenge is on Cronus’s mind and Maisey gets pulled right into it. But as fate would have it, Zeus found Cronus first and found interest in Maisey. Cronus has to find his old friends to help him along the way, many of which used to be his girlfriends—to Maisey’s discontent.

Maisey accidentally released the nine deadly sins and destroys Pandora’s box. Now the sins are out, and it is up to Cronus and Maisey to get them back. With an unlikey ally, Maisey finds out her lineage is more complex than she knew. In an attempt to save the world, Maisey must become the vessel of redemption, while fighting to protect Cronus from the God’s wrath.

The war between the titans and the gods ended a long time ago. Now the titans are coming back, one by one, each with a mission to imprison the sins that plague the earth.

My review:

I loved the twists and turns this story holds. The comical remarks and hashtags kept me reeling with laughter. The relationship between Cronus and Maisey was innocent yet romantic at the same time. Her perusings about life and her feelings were very real.

The world where Titans and Gods exists is magical. I could imagine most of the places within my mind. I loved the personalities of the characters and how they interacted with each other.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves Cursed by the Gods Series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Lux Series.

Title of Book:  Air Awakens (Air Awakens Series Book 1)

Author: Elise Kova

Main Character(s): Vhalla Yarl and Prince Aldrik

First Published: October 2016

Pages: 342

First Sentence: “Summer storms were common in the capital and Vhalla Yarl had endured their visits in the seven years since she had moved from the East, but lightning and thunder were never welcome guests.”

Last Sentence: “They were sending her to war, sh she would go and become something they had every right to fear.”

Now all sorcerers are evil….some are just misunderstood.

Story Line Overview:

Vhalla Yarl is a commoner with a passion for knowledge and books. When “her” prince gets hurt on the war front, the palace calls upon the librarians to research ways to save him. This starts Vhalla on a path that will change her life forever.

Kidnapped to the tower where the sorcerers live, Vhalla learns she has magic within her. Growing up, Vhalla’s opinion of magic and sorcery was not well formed. With the help of a teacher in the shadows, and lots of hidden notes left in books in the library, Vhalla learns that magic is not something she should fear.

Prince Aldrik is the most powerful sorcerer of the kingdom. Known as the Fire King, he has a bad reputation as dark, dangerous, and hateful. But appearances are not always as they seem. As Vhalla learns more about Aldrik, she discovers there is more to him than first meets the eye. Aldrik awakens her magic. As the first wind walker in over 100 years, Vhalla becomes a target of those who fear and don’t understand the beauty of magic.

Caught in the middle of a war, Vhalla rushes to save her friends, while Aldrik tries to save Vhalla. This unlikely pair are bound in ways that only fate can unravel.

My review:

This was a wonderfully put together story. I will confess that the cover of the book is what first drew me in, but it was Vhalla’s story and the way she thinks that kept me intrigued. I loved the witty word play between her and the prince through the notes they shared.

The story was well thought out and put together in a way where the world would seem real. Many books write magic in a fantastical way, but Kova wrote it so that magic could be believed and not seen as fictional.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Lux Series, and The Sanctorian Series.

Pandemic In The Hospital

Life Design by Cynthia Free eBook
Change your life one bullet at a time
Bullet Journal for beginners
How to set your goals when you don't know where to start.

Hello everyone. I found it really hard to write about my passions this week with the world in chaos. Instead, I thought I would tell you a little about my world, in particular, food service in the hospital.

I work for a medium sized hospital, about 265 inpatient beds. We provide about 1500 meals per day including patients, cafeteria, doctor’s, catering, etc. Although my hospital isn’t the biggest in the county, it is well respected within the community and has been a major influence for the past 100 years.

With that being said, on to the pandemic.

An entire floor has been devoted to the COVID19 virus patients. This floor has specialized nurses that will service these patients during their stay with us. I want to point out,the world has never seen a pandemic—-no let me rephrase—–the world has never seen such hysteria and fear from a virus since the early 1900s. The COVID19 virus is less deadly than the flu but it is more contagious. If you look at the mortality rate for your state, I guarantee more people have died due to other viruses than COVID19.

The fear is real. Just yesterday, I listened in on a meeting my college was having her team. Her group takes the patient food orders and delivers them to the floor. They are on the front line so to speak of this pandemic, right alongside the patient care team.

It really hit home when she started speaking about the fear of the nurses and hospital staff due to this pandemic. The fear is real. I give props to the workers on the front lines. They show up knowing they could get infected, but they still give their all to help those in need.

Some of the precautions we have taken in the hospital are installing more sanitizer stations, removing chairs from the cafeteria, no self service stations like salad bars and beverage counters, and daily COVID19 testing.

The best thing happened today. The engineering team installed sanitizer stations in the elevators. It’s the little things that make the biggest difference. It makes sense. Everyone touches the buttons on the elevator. I felt proud to work for my hospital because they cared enough to care about my safety.

Currently, the management team is preparing to “tag out” if one of our associates contract COVID19. This is a full tag out. Another team would come into the hospital to ensure the patients are fed. With this being said, this is a huge undertaking. We are currently going through renovations and are working out a small 2 man food truck to provide 1500 meals per day. It’s a huge feat for a team that has no clue about our facility to come in and take over….successfully.

Tomorrow, I plan on pulling the team and putting together a “Tag Out” Book that will have all the necessary information for the next team to be successful. This book is going to have contact lists for hospital personnel, menus for both the cafeteria and patient services, as well as product order numbers for food items that will need to be ordered.

It is hard right now. We are on the outer edge of the great storm. How long it will last, who knows? What I do know is that we should be appreciative of our soldiers on the front line, of the parents who have to leave their kids at home so they can go and take care of the families in need, for the cashier at walmart, ingles and publix who expose themselves to several hundred people a day.

I went shopping the other day at the walmart and had nice little conversation with the cashier while I was checking out. She said that it is crazy the amount of rude, nasty, and just plain mean people she has seen since this pandemic began. I thanked her for coming to work and for exposing herself to the potential threat of this virus.

I hope, my friends, that the next time you go out and order food, or shop at the local convenience store, you will thank the person working for taking the risks they are taking.

So far, my hospital, the floor with 36 beds designated for COVID19, has 3 confirmed cases and 19 unconfirmed. This has happened within the past 3 days. I expect the next week or two to be really bad. The number of fatalities will more than triple and the amount fear and hysteria will rise.

How are you handling this pandemic? Are you practicing social distancing? Are you one of the workers on the front line? Whatever your case may be, I wish you the best.

Regards,

Cynthia Brandel

Tribes Grow Better Together! Make Sure To Share With Friends!

There are many days when life feels overwhelming.  If like me, you wear many hats within a day—a mom, a boss, a wife, a leader, a friend, a woman—you may feel overwhelmed and out of balance.

I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. At one point, I feel so far into depression that I secluded myself from my family and friends.  I was on autopilot for a long time.  I never want to go back to those days, where life was joyless, lethargic, and uneventful.

After many months of soul searching, I stumbled across a YouTube video about Chakras.  Chakras are the 7 divine energies flowing within our bodies at any given time.  The health of your chakras directly correlate to the health of your mind, body, and emotional well being.

The Seven Core Chakras are:

  • Root chakra  “Muladhara”
  • Sacral chakra “Svadhishthana”
  • Solar Plexus chakra “Manipura”
  • Heart chakra “Anahata”
  • Throat chakra “Vishuddha”
  • Third Eye chakra “Ajna”
  • Crown chakra “Sahasrara”

Muladhara “The Root Chakra”

The first of the chakras is the Root Chakra or the Muladhara (pronounced moo-lăd-ă-hārr-ăh).  It is located at the base of your spine.  The Muladhara is centered around the earth element and is commonly linked to your feelings of safety, survival instincts, stability, and foundation.

A good analogy for your Muladhara:  imagine yourself as a plant.  To grow strong and tall, to withstand the wind, the rain, and the harsh weather around you, you will need to stretch your roots deeply into the soil and ground yourself to the earth.  Your roots are your foundation.  This is where you gain energy and take in all the nutrients that you need to grow strong, to flower, and to produce seeds.

Your Muladhara is the basis or the foundation for the other energies flowing through your being.  It is the fundamental element of life, encompassing your need for shelter, sleep, food, and self-preservation.

Grounded.  Safe.  Balanced.

Often seen as red energy, your Muladhara connects you to mother earth and helps you maintain balance in your life.  Red is the color of vitality and strength.  It stimulates your instincts and lures you into action.  This color red can often be seen at the dawning of a new day.  It is an awakening from dormancy to active awareness.  Recognizing your Muladhara and balancing this energy within yourself is the start of spiritual transformation and intentional self-awareness.

The Root Chakra Symbolism

The Four Petal Lotus

The Muladhara is portrayed as a red, four petal lotus flower with a square and inverted triangle in the center.  Many different theologies revolve around the meanings of the four petals of the lotus.

The Human Psyche

One theologist believes the four petals of the lotus flower represent the four central aspects of the human psyche.

  • Mind
  • Intellect
  • Consciousness
  • Ego

This is representative of spiritual awakening and self-awareness.

The Four Goals of Human Life

Another theologist believes the four petals represent the purusartha, or the object of the human pursuit.  This is one of the foundations of Hindu philosophy.

  • Dharma: Morality
  • Artha: Economic Prosperity
  • Kama: Emotional Fulfillment
  • Moksha: Spiritual Liberation

The purusartha is easy to understand if you think of it as your life’s pursuit, the goal of your soul while you here on this plane of existence for this short time.

The Square

What is the first thing you think about when you visualize a square?  The square represents a solid foundation.  It has four stable sides, each supporting each other.

To understand the square symbolism, think about a house.  Most houses are square in shape.  They have four walls that support the roof.  These four walls provide shelter from the weather, protection from the outside world, and a steady foundation for the roof above your head.

The square is the foundation, the here and now, your current predicament.  It represents your current state in this physical dimension at this present point in time.

The Triangle

The downward-pointing triangle symbolizes the birth of your creativity and self-awakening.  When starting from the tip, you begin with nothing, a speck of dust among an ocean of sand.  But, as you travel upward, your knowledge and self-awareness expand bringing you closer to spiritual enlightenment.

This can also be looked at from the flat side going down. If you start from the flat of the triangle, this is the place where you are currently.  This is your starting point of consciousness.  You are aware of everything all at once. Therefore you are also unaware of the detail or the little pieces of energy that come along with self-awareness.

As you travel down the sides of the triangle the space within decreases.  This is where you start to focus on the details of your life that lead you on the correct path of spiritual liberation and conscious thought.

Opening Your Root Chakra

There are many ways to open your Muladhara.  Taking a walk through the woods.  Working in your garden.  Hiking a mountain trail.  Do you see a theme here?  Nature.  If you want to open your Muladhara, you need to find your connection to nature.

If you are not a person who like to go outside, try cooking using fresh vegetables and herbs.  Put some plants around the living room or a green shrub in your bedroom window.

Meditate with your windows open and listen to the bird song outside.  Or if you are in an area (like a loud noisy city) you could try finding a roof top with a good view of the sunrise/sunset.  Whatever your connection to nature, incorporate it into your daily/weekly/monthly life.

For me, I work in the basement of a hospital.  We have no windows, sunlight, plants, etc.  Spending most of my time surrounded by cement walls doesn’t help me to stimulate my muldahara.  However, the hospital does have a prayer garden that I visit frequently, and on days when I am able to take a few minutes to have a break, I like to walk around the campus.  The pink flowers on the trees and the flowering pears are beautiful in the spring.  I love walking under them.  It is like I am in a dream, walking through a rain storm of pink petals and bird song.

Finding those small moments to engage my Muladhara greatly improves my overall happiness and reduces my daily stress levels.

Meditation and Yoga

Meditation and yoga also help to open your Muladhara and increases your focus on what is grounding you both emotionally and physically.   There are several different yoga poses you can do to help you ground yourself and open your Muladhara.

  • Standing Forward Bend:  This is where you stand with your feet together and bend over to touch your toes.  While doing this focus on the pressure you are on your feet.  Press down through your heels.  Flex your toes as if you were standing barefoot in the mud.
  • Garland Pose: For this pose you spread your feet shoulder width apart.  Bend as if you were going to sit in a chair and then keep going until you are nearly sitting on the ground.  Bring your hands into a praying position in front of your.  Look forward with a soft gaze.  Really dig you heels and your toes into the ground here.  Feel the earth beneath your feet.  Let the steady ground be your rock to help keep your balance.
  • Head to Knee Forward Bend: Sit with one of your heels pressed against your inner thigh.  Your other leg is straight in front of your with your toes bent toward the ceiling.  Stretch your arms up over your head and then try to hug your toes.  This is not an easy pose if you have little flexibility in your legs and sides.  Your thighs will try to come off the ground here.  Try to keep them pressed to the floor.
  • Reclining Bound Angle Pose:  Lie flat on your back with your hands out to your sides (Jesus style).  Take the heels of your feet and put them together.  Bring them as close to your body as you can while keeping your knees pressed firmly against the ground.  Be mindful of your lower back here.  It will want to arch.  Keep your body glued to the earth.
  • Wide Legged Forward Bend:  Spread your legs a little wider than shoulder width.  Bend forward and hug your knees while trying to fold your body in half.  Do not over extend your back.  The idea is to keep your black flat and stretch the back of your thighs as well as your shoulders.

Muldahara Affirmation:

As a child of God, I strengthen my bond with the everflowing energy of the cosmos.  I am a being of light.  Peace fills my soul.  I am a survivor.  My roots grow deep and ground me to the earth.  I can stand on my own two feet in confidence.  My life is by my design.  My creator watches over me.  Blessed be.

Monthly Bullet Journal Page Ideas

If you’ve been following my blog lately, you will have noticed that I am largely obsessed with bullet journaling. My bullet journal has changed my life. I am organized and productive to a degree that I never was before. Plus, I feel happier than I used to—my depression is nearly gone!

Keeping a bullet journal and living one bullet at a time is a great way to not be overwhelmed by the multitude of tasks needing to be completed each week. Level 10 Living is simpler than ever.

My current bullet journal is the Leuchtturm1917—coincidentally, this is the original bullet journal. I like it because it is small enough to fit into my purse and the binding is durable. It has 2 ribbon placeholders and a strap to keep it closed. In addition to this, there is also a nifty little pocket in the back of the book for me to store sticky notes and washi tape.

My favorite pens to use are the fine point sharpie art pens. They don’t bleed through the pages. The colors are bright and lively and the pens themselves last a very long time. I bought my pack of pens over a year ago and I am just now having to start replacing them.

I have always believed that failure to plan is the same as planning to fail. I plan out my month using the monthly spread. It is important for me as I have a busy schedule between work, kids, and writing.

Monthly spreads are a great way to focus your energy and set the tone for the month. They set you up for success and hold you accountable for achieving your goals.

By the way, if you haven’t done so already, please join my Bullet Journal Lifestyle Tribe on Facebook. This is a growing community of bullet journal lovers just like you who geek out on bujo supplies and get happy tingling feeling when they design a new bullet journal spread.

What To Include In Your Monthly Spread

The monthly spread is a glance, or a snap shot, of how you want to design your month. This is a great chance to take control of how your month is going to turn out and what steps you are going to take to achieve your Level 10 Life.

Bullet Journal Monthly Cover Page

Whether you are artistic or not, you can still set the tone for the month with a monthly cover page. The cover page can be as simple as a verse from your favorite scripture or book. It can be a drawing or even single word.

The cover page is meant to inspire you. It needs to be something to keep you motivated and determined to push forward toward your goals. You could even take a picture of your kids or of the bikini you want to fit into when the summer months arrive and tape it to the page. Whatever your motivation, this is where you need to put it.

Bullet Journal Monthly Calendar

The monthly calendar is a must if you are planning on being productive this month. This is a place to plan your days and divide the multitude of tasks you want to accomplish into manageable steps.

To set up your calendar, first decide on a design. If you are artsy, you could design your calendar with a theme in mind.

However, if you aren’t artsy and prefer a minimalist calendar, maybe a straight line with dates will work best for you. The best thing about a bullet journal is the flexibility you get with planning your time.

If you are balancing your career, school and home life you might prefer a column approach rather than a traditional calendar. Using columns to sort out the bigger events in the month is a great way to manage the different areas of your life.

For example, if you want to schedule a few self care days into your personal calendar, you wouldn’t want to do that when you have a big project for school or a director’s meeting at work.

Keeping all of your calendars in one place is a great way to stay on top of managing your time so you don’t burn out.

Bullet Journal Monthly Overview

If you don’t like the traditional calendar, you could use an overall view of your month. There are nine areas I tend to focus on when I use this type of spread.

  • Current Self
  • Theme of the Month
  • Key Goal (s)
  • Obstacles to Overcome
  • Major Accomplishments
  • What to Avoid
  • What to Embrace
  • Where to Find Support
  • Advice and Encouragement

Bullet Journal Monthly Goals

The calendar is a great place to record the steps you are going to take to achieve your goals. Turning your goals into manageable steps is key to winning the race. By breaking them down and doing small tasks each day, you will be amazed at how productive you can be.

Bullet Journal Monthly Tracker

Using a monthly tracker is beneficial for a lot of reasons. You can hold yourself accountable for tasks you want to complete everyday. You can track your moods, your word count, blog schedule, etc.

The sky is the limit when it comes to what you track. For me, work life balance is hard to accomplish. I tend to track the hours I work each month on my monthly calendar.

Monthly Spread Planner

Your monthly spread should help keep your focus on what’s most important. Design it however you would like, but keep in mind that there is no point in doing something if you aren’t going to use it.

I use my monthly spread to help me organize my month so i don’t burn out before the end of it. My month is broken into quarters based off the lunar calendar. For each quarter of the moon, I focus on one completing one main task. At the end of each quarter, I reflect on what i have accomplished and make adjustment to my master plan for the following quarter.

In Summary:

The sky is the limit when you design your monthly spread. Add as much or as little to it as you see fit. Whatever your main goal is for the month: include it on your page. Add a calendar or write an overview. Whichever method works best, just keep trucking toward your goals.

Book Reviews

“The world is gritty and the characters are living in survival mode, which brings out the best and worst in people. I loved it! I pictured this super dark city where Phoebe really stands out like a light, at home, and at work. Phoebe is an amazing person who takes care of her adopted father and stands up for her friends, even when she’s terrified…I really liked The Curse of Judas and I can’t wait for the next book to come out!!! I recommend it for anyone that enjoys a good vampire story (where the vamps don’t glitter).” –Jess

“In a world where vampires pretty much, rule our hero Phoebe is trying is just trying to get by. She becomes the focus of the local ruling vampires and so the story begins…The actual vampirism is handled in a unique way (spoiler). Some sensuality, some horror, some action, some suspense…Fans of vampire stories should find this entertaining. Enjoy!” –Mike

“The Curse of Judas quickly establishes excellent world building, genuine characters, and intrigue. While Persephone’s story will continue in future novellas, the ending didn’t leave me frustrated. If you are tired of the same old, same old vampire stories and are looking for something more creative, The Curse of Judas won’t leave you disappointed.” –Cats Luv Coffee

The price of survival is blood. The price of freedom is life. All things will eventually meet their end including humanity.

After generations of advancement, the human race thought they were invincible. That was until the revenant made their presence known. In order to survive, humans had to pay a price.

The cost……their blood. The source of life for all living things.

Persephone Black (Phoebe) was an orphan. She and her Pappy made a living on the outskirts of the revenant city where the poor and desolate were numerous. Phoebe had kept her head low and remained unnoticed for her entire life. She was content working as a junior gardner at the nursery as long as it meant her and Pappy’s continued survival within the city walls.

As fate would have it, Phoebe wouldn’t be able to go unnoticed for much longer. She caught the attention of Cassius, a revenant, and was summoned by him to the tower.

Her existence is both a blessing and a curse for the revenant. If the secret of her birth ever came to light, the world of the revenants would turn on end.

Phoebe would learn more about the revenant than most other humans. Cast into a world that she was not yet ready for, she would do anything to survive.

But she would soon learn that sometimes the cost of survival is more than a person could bear.

The Curse of Judas is a post-apocalyptic adventure interlaced with biblical prophecy and religious innuendo centered
around the sons of Judas Iscariot.

Note: There is a cliffhanger.

Bullet Journal Future Log Set Up

The tick-tock of the clock never yields. It is an unstoppable force beyond the control of man. The future is coming whether you are ready or not.

A future log can at least help you to prepare for the months ahead while adding a little of bit of organization to your life.

What is a Bullet Journal Future Log Spread?

The future log is a bullet journal spread where you can keep all of your monthly/yearly commitments in one place. It gives a glance at what’s ahead as well as a record of what has already passed. Keeping a future log will relinquish the burden of trying to remember birthdays and appointments that are six months out.

I use my future log to plan out my vacation time each year as well as scheduling quarterly, monthly, bi-annual, and annual meetings at work. The future log can be used as a reminder of birthdays, anniversaries, and appointment at the base level. But it can be so much more than that. You can schedule self-care days, cleaning days, blogging days, gardening days, etc. The future log is a glance and how you want to design your life.

How My Future Log Has Helped Me

I am a very forgetful person. Between work, home, my blog, and writing, I can’t seem to remember from one point to another. Living one bullet at a time has been very helpful and made me super productive in my daily and professional life.

I have used a bullet journal for years now. At first, I will admit, I wasn’t sure how to properly use a future log. Looking on Pinterest, there are so many ideas out there that it can be overwhelming. Not all bullet journal spreads will work for everyone. You have to experiment and find the one(s) that will work for you.

The original bullet journal is the Leuchtturm1917. I use this journal for work. It has a pocket in the back for my sticky notes, is small enough to fit in my purse, and has a durable cover.

Another bullet journal I have used is the celestial themed bullet journal by Peter Pauper Press. I picked this one up at Walmart, but later found I could have saved some money if I’d bought it on Amazon.

Good pens and art supplies are not cheap. Yes, you can go the dollar store and pick some up, but “you get what you pay for”.  Remember that some pens and markers will bleed, so choose your mediums wisely. Here are a few pens that I have used that work well.

Fine point Sharpie Art Pens are the bomb! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars with over 2,000 reviews, these pens are worth every penny. Plus the case folds back and turns into a handy stand. I bought my pens about a year ago and I am just now having to start replacing the ones that have run out.

Other than pens, I use Mildliner Creative Markers from Zebra. These are the best highlighters I have ever used. I loved them so much that I shared them with a friend, and then she went out and bought some more. These highlighters don’t bleed through the paper and show great color on the grid paper. They have both a wide end and a fine tip. I can’t tell you enough how awesome these highlighters are.

Future Log Bullet Journal Page Ideas

There is no right or wrong way to create a bullet journal spread. The only thing that matters is if the spread layout works for you. If you have a lot going on in your life and a ton of commitments each month, a twelve month future log, may not work best for you. Maybe a quarterly future log would work better. But, if you don’t have a lot going on, a yearly future log might just bet the spread you need.

Yearly (12 Month) Future Log

You can use a yearly future log to track holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, appointment, etc. It doesn’t take long to set up this spread if you keep it simple. Now I know, there are a lot of artsy people out there—I’m not one of them. I enjoy a good doodle, but I can live without all the fluff.

If you find you need more room to write your appointment, you can always stretch your future log over multiple pages using the dutch door method. I listed the days of the month on the right and left hand sides of the first and last page and then cut the center pages one dot in so that I wouldn’t have to rewrite the day numbers. Each page is one quarter of the year. This worked out better for me in my work bullet journal.

Quarterly (3 Month) Future Log

If you don’t like to plan more a few months ahead, a quarterly future log may be what you are looking for. A quarterly future log gives you a glance at the next three months. You can easily schedule your projects, meetings, and events in one place. One of the big downfalls I have found in using a quarterly future log is that you can’t schedule past the three months. You would need to put a sticky note or something with anything past the quarter so you wouldn’t forget what you need to do.

Stacked Future Log

If you find that you don’t want to dedicate more than one page to your future log, the stacking method may work best for you. This method only needs one page. Using a sticky note for each month, you would write, then stack them along the page and throw them away or store them in the back pocket of your bullet journal once the month has passed.

This method works well, if you don’t have too many appointments within one month. You can however use this method and multiple sticky notes per month. However, you do face the risk of losing a sticky note that no longer wants to stick.

Running Future Log

A running future log is good if you don’t want to draw out a calendar. This method works well if you have a continually growing list of meetings, appointments, etc. The running future log is simple to use and takes very little time to create.

Other Uses For Your Future Log

A future log can be used for so much more than birthdays and appointments. The sky is the limit with what you can do with a good plan.

Blogging Future Log & Tracker

I use a future log to plan out and track my blog posts. This helps me to ensure I am posting consistently. Also, I highlight the days I designate to blogging and writing. This helps me to keep my focus where it belong and energizes me to push forward toward my goals.

Financial Planning Future Log & Tracker

Planning your finances and tracking them should be one of your yearly goals. I use the dutch door method to plan out my finances for the year. Tracking my big bills, like taxes, and spacing out my monthly expenses is easy when using a future log layout.

How To Use Your Bullet Journal Future Log Spread

Using your future log is easy. Write in all of your appointments, birthdays, and events that you want to keep track of. You will then use the future log to set up your monthly calendar spread.

The main point behind using a future log is to schedule your time out months in advance. After it is scheduled you will then be able to easily plan you month, weeks, and days according to what you have written on your future log.

For me, I use my future log and my lunar calendar to help plan out my month and schedule events for each week. By doing this, I don’t have to worry about forgetting anything important.

Design your future log like you design your life. Your bullet journal is personal. It is your creative space to be who you are without fear of judgement or inability. The future log is a valuable tool that, if used properly, can add organization to your life and increase your productivity.

If you have other future log ideas or have used a different method for your bullet journal future log spread, I would love to hear about it. Leave me a note in the comments below.
