Failing NaNoWriMo

I am probably not going to win NaNoWriMo, but that’s okay.  Currently, I am sitting on 34,800 words, 50 pages, and 15 completed scenes.  There are 20 scenes planned for the Repentant Son, book two of the Revenant City Series.  The story is coming along nicely and quite frankly I’m happy about that.  It’s okay to not win NaNoWriMo as long as I continue to work on my story.

During the middle of November, I’d hit a rough patch and became disconnected from my WIP.  I just didn’t like writing it anymore.  What was the point?  What message was I trying to convey with this story?  After days of not writing anything, I opened up the draft and then found myself deleting and editing rather than finishing my first draft.  This was going against the flow, not with it.

After much prayer and meditation, I finally rekindled the fire for my WIP.  Since then, the words have flowed pretty easily, but my attention keeps getting diverted elsewhere.  I’m finding it hard to focus for more than thirty minutes at a time.  So, I will change my ways and my writing habits.  Waking up early and writing before work and then writing when I get home in the evenings seems to be the best way for me to focus.

The Revenant City Series is an undetermined number of books.  The main idea behind the series, is the redemption and suffering of the sons of Judas Iscariot.  Now, you might go WHAT!!!!  JUDAS LIKE IN THE BIBLE JUDAS?

My answer is yes—Judas Iscariot, also known as the Betrayer.  The sons of Judas are cursed to pay for the sin of their father.  The Revenant City Series focuses on their stories as seen through the eyes of the women in their lives.

I am excited to find out what will happen when the rebels decide to attack the city.  Will war break out once again or will there be a sweeping victory?  Will the Revenant leave anyone alive?  There are so many possibilities and different ways that the main plot can play out.  I can’t wait to see this through to the end…..but the end is a long way off.

If you are interested in checking out The Curse of Judas  I would to hear what you think.  If you have any conspiracies as to where the story will lead or how the ending will occur, I would love to hear them.  Check out the reviews I’ve received so far.
