#Preptober is almost over…..

I decided to join NaNoWriMo for the first time this year.  I am very excited and committed to this event.  After looking online and doing a little research, I decided to adopt Rachel Stephen’s approach to NaNoWriMo.

NaNoWriMo Bullet Journal

I have created a bullet journal after watching her videos and feel that I am fully prepared to start on this 30-day journey.  Although I started preparing about a week ago, I already had an idea in mind for my next novel.

As many of you may know, my latest novella, The Curse of Judasis the first in the Revenant City Series.  It is scheduled for release on Halloween 2018.  I have to admit that I am very proud of this novella.  I feel that out of all the books I have published, this is the first one that I can say I am truly impressed with.  It’s not that I’m a bad writer, but that I am still new to the experience and learning the craft.

For NaNoWriMo, I will be writing the second book in the series, tentatively called The Sons of Judas.  So far, I have brainstormed and plotted my way through pages of notes.  I have made plot embryos, developed characters, notated possible scenes, and drafted more ideas than will actually make it to the storyline.

Typically, I am a pantser by nature, but during this experience, I have found that plotting and planning are just as fun as writing.  That’s right!  I said it.  FUN!!!!  What’s the point in being a writer if you don’t enjoy the craft?

Over the next month, my posts will be more generalized.  I will focus more on spotlighting indie authors with upcoming releases.  This will give me time to write and fully devote myself to NaNoWriMo.

The Mind Behind The Story

As a side note: If you are an author and would like to fill a slot in November’s Author Spotlight, then drop me a line at DawnB423@gmail.com.  I will send you a list of questions and schedule a date for you to premiere.  Spots have filled up fast so the sooner you email me, the better your chances are of getting in on the fun!

NaNoWriMo is just around the corner.  With an open mind and a lot of caffeine, I am ready to take on the challenge and score a win.
