I am working on editing a chapter called Ambush in Forsaken. When I finished reading the chapter, the first thought I had was “Did I really write that?”
My heart is still pounding at the suspense.
Have you ever written something and then went back to read it and was just blown away by what you created?
While reading Ambush, I realized that even though I may not be the best writer—-I am still a writer that can invoke feelings of suspense, fear, sadness, and joy in a reader. I know that I am the most invested in my characters. But, if I feel something, an emotion, when I go back through a chapter that I haven’t looked at for a while, then I think I did a good job.
Now that I think about it—-I cried for three days straight after I finished writing Forbidden. Not because I was happy at having completed my first novel, but because of the twist at the end where I had to say goodbye to one of my beloved characters (who just happened to be one of the main characters).
“Do it for joy and you can do it forever.” –Stephen King
I love being a writer. It fills my cup to be able to share my dreams with others.
I hope you enjoyed Forbidden as much as I enjoyed writing it. Forsaken will be released on April 23, 2018. I can’t wait for you to meet the new players in the Sanctorian Series.
Among them, you will meet Bones, a little old lady with fire in her blood (whom also happens to be called the Mother of Manhattan). Her nemesis, Nicolai, is the leader of the White Dragon Gang. Both Bones and Nicolai compete in the underground world of antiquities.
Lyla will play a key role in the outcome of their feud.
If the feud between the gangs of Manhattan wasn’t enough. I threw in a few more conflicts:
- Prince Thanark vs Thomas the Commander (both contenders for Lyla’s mate)
- Ronan vs Joel (captive vs captor)
- Bones’s business partners vs Nicolai (Conflict for the ownership of the Vineblade)
- The Queen (Lyla’s mother) vs Bones (Lyla’s self-proclaimed/adopted Grandmother)
- The Queen vs the Chief (both want in their opinion what is best for Lyla)
In Forsaken you will meet the rest of the Mantekai brothers as well as a young Terran girl, Sara, who is thrown into the middle of all the conflict.
I know it sounds a little crazy, but I promise it is a suspenseful and encompassing story. Every character has a part to play in the outcome of the Sanctorian war. I can’t wait to find out what will happen. Who will live? Who will die? I don’t know.
Love. Revenge. It’s all there amidst the pages of Forsaken.
